We should have "Krita for OSX" forum here. Although my OS is windows, I was asked a question by a user who use Krita on OSX, and I found there are very few information about Krita on OSX. We should put together it for the future of Krita on Mac!

hi tokiedian,

That is a good idea. In general, I have noticed that Krita is quite popular in Japan. Are these English forums and such useful (maybe Google translate is good enough). Also, I was wondering if it is fairly easy for Japanese people to find, download, and learn how Krita works. Everything now is English right?

Well, we can find Krita and download it, but I think it is slightly difficult for Japanese people to learn how Krita works, especially for newbies of drawing. So now I'm doing translation of Timothée Giet's Guide of Krita 2.9, but I think it is still not enough. I wish we could use Japanese in KDE forum...

Usually are subforum is created if there are lots of posts over a certain topic. Currently there are only a few OS X posts so the main forum should be enough.

The question I asked by the OSX user is that he can't switch UI language to Japanese though he has switched application language to Japanese. I wasn't able to answer it. Could such a thing happen on Krita on OSX?

Oh, it might be that the language files were not yet included.

Namito111 on these forums is one of the japanese translators, and had some instructional post on how to get translations working back when Krita for windows didn't pack them, but I am having trouble finding them :(

Oh, well, Namito111 is one of my coworkers of Japanese translation (actually I'm one of the japanese translators). I asked the OSX user to show his Krita's folder where Japanese .mo files should be, but the folder had .mo files though it had slightly different .mo files from ones in my Krita. Here is them> https://twitter.com/Candy513_f/status/571719134641188866 What happens on his Krita?

Based off what I see from the Krita website, there are A LOT of Japanese people that are using Krita. I wonder if it is possible to have a Japanese area of the forum. The program that runs this forum, phpBB, looks like it has localization functionality already available (and a Japanese language pack).

https://www.phpbb.com/languages/index.p ... ckage_list

tokiedian - would you be comfortable sending a request to see about having this forum be available in Japanese. Instead of a Mac OSX area, maybe it would be even better to begin with a dedicated area for Japanese people to discuss Krita?

https://sysadmin.kde.org/tickets/index.php
forum.kde.org isn't listed as a project for a request, so I would make the request as "other".

In terms of learning Krita -- I am currently writing a book. I have about 150 pages written so far. I am very interested in doing a Japanese version since there is little educational material in Japanese. There are too many Japanese people using Krita to ignore them.

Hi Scott,
um, I think that Japanese users still would have difficulty even if the forum is in Japanese, because at least it is required to register on KDE Identity ( identity.kde.org ) in English in order to use it.

Wolthera,
Oh, it might be that the language files were not yet included.

Sorry but I stopped publishing the post before the release of 2.9 not to confuse new users.
I don't own a Mac and I can't know where the language files should be placed, but after mounting the HFS file in the DMG and reading articles about the localization of OSX ver of GIMP, I've felt the right place for 'share' directory is
krita.app/Contents/Resources/ , not krita.app/Contents/.

Namito111. Good point. Another issue is that very few people here understand Japanese. That will make it very difficult to manage a forum.
