Hi,
We're preparing a new kickstarter. The aim is run in April. Because most kickstarters seem to fail at delivering, I think it would be good to make the main message of the kickstarter that we did deliver, and we'll deliver again. The big topic for this kickstarter will be: performance and animation. We need the performance goalt to make animation possible. These big jobs won't be up for votes, because we all know, it really needs to be done, and done right this time. That's where the 20.000 euros we will be asking for will go. Additionally, I'm compiling a nice list of 2500 euro tasks which will be voted on like last time. Every 2500 euro we go over goal will add a task to the list. I'm also working on new reward ideas -- suggestions are welcome, but in a separate thread, please. So, for the video. Last time we had started with talking heads. A bit of excellent cooperation resulted in a great video . This time, I don't think we need the talking heads, we can let Krita speak for itself. Here are the results, this is what we delivered, now make it possible for Krita to get even better. Who wants to volunteer to take the lead? |

We could start by asking people to contribute timelapses done with 2.9? That's the best way to let Krita speak

I can record short sequence during 'painting' time.

Hm I still have my pixel art videos up on youtube, they're not too interesting sadly. I lost the file to one of my longer speedpaints, which is a shame.
It'd be nice to include timelapses that make use of the new 2.9 features, to show how much changes 2.9 has added to Krita. Good luck with your kickstarter! I'm so excited. 2.9 was amazing, I can't even imagine how big krita will be after 3.0 |

I'm not even sure that timelapses of artists doing real work would work best. The video really needs to be fast and furious, from the previous kickstarter it was clear that people watch about two minutes of video, on average! And we need to get both the message down that we delivered, and that we'll deliver again!

maybe just leave those to the description pages, and put the more important stuff in the video )

*film opens* "The SUCCESS of Krita 2.9" Countdown of the previous kickstarter features with a glimpse of them being used. And then, when we get to zero: "And now we'll take it further!" "Krita 3.1 kick starter funding campaign!" "Main Goals?" "Superfast brush strokes" *bits from the 8k painting teaser* "Bring your paintings to life with animation!" *We'll need a demo of someone really using the painting system with the animation branch, we really need to convey IT IS NOT the same as flash or synfig* "And stretch goals, picked by YOU, the backers!" *maybe a list of of said stretch goals?* "Back us now, and become part of the reason Krita is so awesome!" EDIT: Also, we might have to curate the countdown by less awesome to super awesome |

anyone know any open source recording apps? (for windows) also.... colorize interactive would be very useful in an animation pipeline just something to think about in the future. |

Alright, set up a list of how the previous kickstarter items need to be ticked off:
12. Shaped Gradients 11. Vector Object scaling 10. Colour Smudge Brush Improvements 09. Thin Line Quality 08. Improved Transform Quality 07. Easy Mask Creation(mask import/export) 06. Split alpha 05. Perspective transform 04. Liquify transform 03. Cage Transform 02. Transform Masks 01. Layer Styles Studies of experience curves show that technically you should start with something uninteresting and build up, but I think it's best if we start with shaped gradients, which are nice and comprehensible, then go over object scaling and smudge improvements, because these are not apparent, then show off improved line quality, to keep our audience awake, and then push in transform quality as the last not very tangible feature and build up from there to the exciting transform masks and layer styles. Because after that countdown the 'plan' happens, we get the breather part of the experience curve, before the exciting three keypoints are proposed, and we reach the apex of the curve. We'll need clips or screenshots for each of these, and we can recycle some of the transform clips for those, but there's still plenty missing. More importantly, we need CC-BY or CC-BY-SA music that builds up to go with our countdown. Preferably the type that makes it sound like we're going to have an epic battle against a horde of orcs and undead, because that puts people in a rush, but if one can find nice peaceful piano music that builds up, I am happy too. |

Hello everyone,
nharmony wrote: > anyone know any open source recording apps? (for windows) What about Open Broadcaster Software: https://obsproject.com/ I have always read great reviews about this software (e.g. [1] ) On Windows, when you edit your video, you might give a try to Shotcut (which is Open source as well): http://www.shotcut.org/ Shotcut is not as powerful as Adobe Premiere Pro but for some "simple" editing it really provides all the tools you need In the past, on Windows, I have also used extensively Camstudio [2]. At present, on Windows 7, I run the freeware BB Flashback express 5 (which is free but not open source: to get its software licence you need to give your email address...) BTW, on Linux there are *loads* of open source GUI recorders Currently, it looks like the most "rated" is Simple Screen recorder [3]. You can even run Shotcut which, on Linux, records your desktop as well. The YouTube Audio Library probably has something that will fit. It's what I've been using lately since even some CC stuff I've used has gotten ContentID flagged, and I aint got no time for dat. |

Yes, that sounds great! I'm getting to be in a bit of a hurry, though -- I'd like the campaign to start after Easter latest! That means we have two weeks left to prepare everything. It's not a huge problem to overrun that goal by a week, but april/may really is the best period to do fund raising. |

I've made my dazzling proposal to reality, so that part of the kickstarter isn't needed anymore
I suposse after this the idea of cute kickstarter headers again, or something. Who wants to take a stab? |
