When will it be possible to test the animation featuresthat are being developed? Or maybe there is already a way to do some beta testing?

You can build the animation branch, but right now it's very much in it's infancy(remember, the kickstarter hasn't even finished). Once more work is done on it and real testing can begin, I have no doubt boud will make sure there's some beta's availeble.

I doubt there will anything for the average user to play with for a while.
