Question about new version 2.9.7.3.

Wed Sep 02, 2015 7:10 pm
Just curious.

When Krita posts new updates, where does one go to obtain the list of enhancements, bug fixes, etc. for the new update?

Other than checking the download section and noticing a change to the version number, sometimes you'd never know an update has been created for download.

Seems to me that knowing the list of changes will help in reporting possible bugs or verifying fixes.

Thanks,

Chuck

There will be some release notes coming soon. They will be on krita.org. There are a few different areas the release is announced, so it happens a little bit after the downloads are available.

Sorry for the question... I'm a total newbie on Linux, I got Linux Mint KDE 17.2, downloaded Krita from the software mannager and installed, curently I have version 2.8.5, is this one the mot up-to-date version for KDE or there is a way I can get an upgrade to 2.9 branch?

Thanks in adcance for the answer :P

Hello FerchogtX,

Krita 2.8.5, the version available with Mint through the software manager, is not the latest version released.
You should try to download the 2.9.7.6 version instead (that is the latest version with plenty of new features and bug-fixes).

First off, you should unistall your 2.8.5 version (I suppose you can easily do this through your software manager).
Since Mint is based on Ubuntu, you might install the latest version following this guide:
http://dimula73.blogspot.it/2013/05/kri ... sions.html

In short, by way of the terminal (that is the Linux shell; usually its shortcut is ctr+alt+t):
- you add the ppa to your repository (dimula73/krita);
- you update your system;
- you finally install Krita (krita-testing krita-testing-dbg).

bonjour,
