Would love to see audio implementation for animation. No clue if I'm asking too much for this

it will be pretty difficult to do any lip sync without sound. So +1 for audio.

If developers adopt the code of vpaint, that would make it possible in the future to do tweening for vector layers. It will also automatically give you a better calligraphy tool with many features that are not currently available. You will also get a vector bucket tool (although lazybrush is obviously better) and ability to make invisible strokes for cell shading. Vpaint is full of sweet features, but it is still so young and only one guy contributes to it for the most part.
But I am not so sure how good vpain't code is for this. The editor uses qt like krita at least. The other issue there is the license - it is open source, but it is not gpl. Is it compatible with krita's? Those are of course crazy dreams so far In an ideal world, that what I would do - take another awesome open source technology and add it to krita. Vpaint is awesome for comic book style inking/drawing, but serves animation really well at its core much better than standard vector technology. It is resolution independent like vectors and it can even export to svg (although not great at it atm) Sound would be must have for acting shots with sound. |

Another thing. Krita is really cool to create textures, but it miss some features like normal map creations.
Gimp has such a plugin. If it comes that something like that is developed for krita I surely would pledge for ! (And if it's possible to reach something like crazybump do a lots of blender artists would do the same I'm sure !)

Well, you just might want to have a look here: https://userbase.kde.org/Krita/Manual/BrushEngines/TangentNormalBrush |

Yes, I saw it, it's pretty cool but what would be cooler is a filter to generate if from a diffuse map (and with live 3D preview with diffuse and glossy map it would be the best):
https://mirzasemti.wordpress.com/2014/0 ... p-in-gimp/ This is something which force me to keep gimp in my texture work flow, even krita has better tools to edit textures.

Hey krita devs, don't forget about the stretch goals that didn't get picked from the last kickstarter! (you did say you would include them again)
https://krita.org/item/the-votes-are-in-2/ i would still like to see gradient maps. I also hope you can look more into image browsing, I would like to be able see thumbnails when I open a file on windows, there must be way (or not) |

I'm very in favor of scripting. That would be a very nice thing to have.
On the side of comics, panels are also a major area of consideration for improvement, because while I find it's pretty easy to set up a masking that lets me work on each panel and go outside the edges by a lot without bleeding onto the others, that could do with automation to be faster to set up, and possibly some optimization to keep a page with 20 panels with 8 layers each from chugging too bad. (Maybe only update the panel you're working on?) |

Noted, thank you! Some might be superseded by things implemented anyway but we'll certainly reconsider them when we make the definitive list.

I have another idea (yes, they come slowly ^^)
Blender compositor has a "UV remapping" filter, it would be nice to have the same filter in Krita. When one work on a texture it's cool to map it, then do corrections, then map it again. With such a filter one would be able to have a filter layer (or a wrap mode ) that can be switched on/off to work on the texture or have a preview of the result all within Krita instead of jumping to blender then back to Krita and again !

1. "toggle n drag" for layer docker.
The ability to kick and drag to turn off visibility of layers, and other layer functions. I just saw the 3.0 docker update, so this would be nice addition. Video for clarity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOb4qkWvjBY 2. Selection Improvment : Moving selection without contents You see my old thread about it here... viewtopic.php?f=288&t=127258 I don't know what could be done about it. Its definitely a downer compared to other apps. It does impact speed/efficiency. |

Sadly enough, this one is nigh-impossible with QT. Or at the least, boud thinks it's impossible. The second one is this one, and it's officially been made a bug. |

It's perhaps worth mentioning that the next release's goal of vpaint (in march) is
https://github.com/dalboris/vpaint/wiki/Roadmap The core technology will be made easy to integrate in other software! I dont know if dmitry/krita devs have any interest in this whatsoever, but vpaint is definitelly an awesome vector technology that has all the features that you will have to reimplement anyways in the future. Why not look into integrating it in krita? It has a lot of the vector/calligraphy layer missing features - such as line sculpting for example. It supports animation and even tweening. It's very much active and the technology is exciting, new and actually competitive with proprietary software. Why in hell is krita so bent on rewriting an abandoned karbon vector layer implementation when this exists? If you make a kickstarter involving vpaint, I will be throwing my piggy bank at you. Why? - The animation and awesome tweening features (already implemented) compliment last year's successful kickstarter and bring to the table a much more useful vector implementation. - It already has a lot of illustration features that the current calligraphy tool lacks - line sculpting, creation of nodes at intersecting lines - which in turn makes it easy to create a vector eraser tool and better cleanup tools such as the ones in clip paint studio. - invinsible strokes and bucket filling - a beautiful implementation that allows great cell shading that is competitive with proprietary software out there. - You get a new exciting open source technology into krita - good publicity pouring in from already gaining positive reactions software. - You get Boris involved - a new developer - and other devs that started contributing to vpaint also interested in krita - You get the ball rolling for adopting a new type of an open vector format (VAC) that is both better for illustration and animation (see youtube channel videos). Krita can be the first - before gimp and anyone else! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMHlwr ... 2oA/videos I can bet than in a few years if not krita, then probably other competitive software will have it. http://www.vpaint.org/ So what's stopping you? Is it the license? Is it the code? Why reinvent the wheel or use something less exciting than this? |

That sounds really interesting, i hope devs will have a proper discussion about it.
edit: thats unfortunate that toggle and drag can't be done. |

This is related to stretch goals and rewards. I saw this other kickstarter project. They were originally wanting to raise $10,000, but have surpassed it by quite a bit. Instead of adding more stuff that people will get in the mail, it is structured more like a game. Not sure if we could leverage some of these social strategies, but it might be something to consider. I don't know if Krita will have this type of viral effect, but it is a neat strategy for spreading the word for a project.
Joking Hazard. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cy ... ry_popular they have "levels" that include a certain percentage of the goal, then additional social goals. I could see it would be neat to add things like "post 100 pieces of artwork on twitter with the hashtag #krita-ks", x number of facebook follows, ... or something similar. |
