It took an insane amount of preparation, but we're live now! This kickstarter is all about text and vectors, with a side-dish of smaller and bigger stretch goals (among others, scripting...) Check https://www.krita.org/2016kickstarter for all the details.

Backed!
Great primary goals, and the stretch goals are awesome too! I am looking forward to another great year with my favorite application. Thanks for your hard work in getting this all together. |

As seems Krita is now separated from Calligra (reading the official announcement, one feels like it says "yay! Finally we're no longer part of an office suite, we can do great things now!") , I just want to know if there will ever this features, when completed, implemented on Calligra (specially looking at Karbon).
I feel kind of sad the fact that Karbon is practically dead. No developer, lots of unresolved bugs... Krita got all the love from devs and people, but Karbon (supposed to be a vector editing application) not. Following the logic about "a digital painting application should not be part of a office suite", Karbon should've been an independent application, too (Perfect if Karbon & Krita would've been the "KDE/Open Source magic graphic editing couple/suite"). As I've written many times on this site and many other blogs, it's completely ridiculous that for creating/editing a KDE Plasma theme, you have no choice but use Inkscape, a GTK+ application (not that I'm saying Karbon should work just for that task). I guess Krita devs already ditched all dependencies on Calligra libs. But as seems like you have big plans for that new text processor, one wonders if people would see those great big features on Calligra Words and the new SVG editing abilities on Karbon. |

It's really a matter of finding a maintainer who is as crazy as I am: and Karbon has never had a really crazy person pushing it. I cannot do that, I have my hands full with Krita already... Basically, you need someone who is committed enough to put a full work week into a project, next to their day job, for ten years. We tried to make sure the rising tide lifted all boats by sharing as much as possible, but that turned out to be really complicated and limiting.
If we can manage to make the vector layers in Krita really awesome thanks to this kickstarter, there's theoretically no reason why that work couldn't be re-integrated in Karbon, but it needs someone to do that work! |

I think that Krita will become a graphic suit by itself, especially if you can produce vector files like svg or vector pdf directly from krita (just like blender for 3d, vfx and video editing in fact )
