I've recently downloaded Astropad for my iPad Pro and have found a version of Krita that works on my Mac with it, (2.9.11). I'd love to see the more updated 3.0 versions working as well, so far I couldn't figure out how to get them to work (they get stuck in panning anytime I click on my iPad screen anywhere).
That aside I think getting Krita to function better with Astropad would be amazing. I certainly enjoy using Krita over Photoshop or other digital image editing software for doing nondestructive edits to images, or even just painting when I need my work to have a more digital look to it. Many thanks to everyone who has helped Krita and all the young artists out there who needed an amazing painting tool. Also, more native Mac integration (less reliance on XQuartz) would be a welcome change as well, but not a high priority so long as it's all working. |

XQuartz? Krita doesn't depend in any way on that.
As for the Astropad, OSX is the last OS where we fully depend on Qt's tablet support, which probably changed between Qt4 and Qt5. I would suspect other Qt5-based applications, like OpenToonz, to also be broken with that combination. In any case, we don't have the money to get a thousand-euro tablet, pencil and software combination to test this, so someone who already has the hardware should dig in and try to debug what's going on. |
