Merry Christmas

Wed Dec 21, 2016 2:32 pm
Assuming there will be no more updates for both Krita and website articles this year, I like to wish everyone on the team and everyone else reading this, a very warm and Merry Christmas, and l look forward to see how the tool will evolve in 2017.

Here is my Krita Claus Wishlist:

- an artist program similar to Painter Masters and Adobe Resident Artists, to see what the tool can do in hands of a superduper awesome artist;
- a marketing/communication program to further promote Krita, it's a great tool and it deserves a bigger exposure, maybe get a PR guy/gal?;
- additional ideas to collect money or skill, not just Kickstarters, donations, shop items, and summers of code, but also maybe trade with other creatives/coders.

This is what I can think of, feel free to add to the wishlist, perhaps a team member sees something he/she can use.

Hey, thank you very much!

Sadly that list is sorta... well, you're underestimating how much we do have. A simple marketing person is actually super expensive, but we do have training dvds. As for other methods to get money, we have considered patreon. But there's not many things we can do without burning ourselves out.

trade with other creatives/coders.p
I have no idea what this means.

I am not sure how much experience you have in marketing. I would say that almost all marketers expect some type of budget (money). Unless we want some of our kickstarter money to go to marketing instead of development, a marketer is going to have a difficult time knowing what to do. Marketers also don't usually have graphic design skills. They can't make banners or advertisements, They usually rely on graphic designers and copy writers to do that. They are more idea people -- which we already have a lot of those such as yours.

If there was a lot more money maybe we could do an artist program like Adobe, but something tells me people would be pretty mad if they knew all their money was just going to another artist making art instead of making the program better.

If I had a list, I would vote for finding out ways to attract more volunteers to help. The team is extremely small right now and can't have specialized roles. Everyone is doing 4-5 different job roles. Volunteers have already made a huge impact with Krita in terms of development, the website and localization, marketing, community building, etc.
