Right now, Krita and even GIMP does lack decent tools for selection, while Photoshop isn't always exactly perfect considering artifacts. Here, in this thread, we will present complicated foreground extraction methods.
As you can see, I extracted the outlines as a reference point to extract the bedhead cactus. And then I used filter brush in order to fix up the alpha mask. That's how it's done in here. Before applying filter brush, I filtered out the colors with filters. - http://i.imgur.com/Z8LXBA6.png Original Image - https://c1.staticflickr.com/6/5082/5348 ... cea7_b.jpg Time taken - 25 mins Second attempt with another image - http://i.imgur.com/t0Nixe5.png I created a new layer, applied brushing just on the the fur outline and not on the body. Then I manipulated the color so that it becomes a black and white outline of the fur. After that, I continue brushing on the the inside with a new layer. I used new from visible, and duplicated the original image. I converted to transparency mask, and you see this results. Time taken - 20 mins |
