Ok so here is a bit of insight into what I have been doing/looking in to.
I have been researching the Instagram and facebook interactions for Krita from both hastags and direct posting as well as researching the current perception of Krita in the deviantart community. I visited Envato (the guys who run graphicriver/codecanyon, Tuts+ so on so forth) as they recently posted an article which featured krita and had a chat to some of the editors there as well as some of the content creators. I visited 3 universities and had a chat to students doing design/fine art courses to ask if they knew what Krita was (unfortunately not many did, but that is only indicative of a small sample of people). I’ve done this to help figure out exactly how to position myself when addressing users via social media channels and also in a professional manner. Essentially I was working out exactly what my “voice” was going to be when I represented Krita in any capacity, from everything I have seen and heard it seems like the best option is to simply speak to users like I do clients at a studio, being friendly and non corporate whilst making sure I speak with my industry knowledge and knowledge of the software. I have also been setting up wireframes for collateral and tutorials, That being said they are still in the wireframe stages since I have been extremely busy with moving (third time in under 12 months, please end my suffering). I intend to create a full brochure template over the next month or so but I’m essentially having to do this in my spare time since july/September is a majorly busy couple of months for me. I’ve also gone through the current PR pack and am putting together a base script describing krita and it’s goals, I’m wondering if anyone has the file for the “krita” text part of the logo? I could only find the icon files in the PR pack. Also I’m wondering, has the Krita team ever considered patreon for funding the project? It’s not something I would jump right into because patreon is tricky business PR/marketing wise but as a long term goal it could help project development if we could get a steady flow of donations. Social media wise I’m ready to start up the Instagram page and set up some scheduling for facebook, I’m staying away from twitter at the moment because it’s a volatile platform with a few krita accounts already active, I need to do more research on that before I even attempt to touch it.
Please keep submitting your opinions/ideas regarding this new venture as I am reading all everything you post and taking it into consideration |

Krita_Painting is the twitter account we manage ourselves -- me, Wolthera and Irina. I think we're doing reasonably well on twitter, with healthy growth in followers and when there's a discussion, it's usually friendly. I tend to ignore the name-callers completely I'm not aware of anyone else promoting Krita on twitter, but that might just be my lack of nous.
I think we've lost the font we used for the Krita text -- at least, I cannot remember what it was. As for Patreon, I've thinking about and working on a page for two years at least, but I've never published it. As you say, Patreon is really tricky when it comes to marketing. Looking at what the Gimp people do on Patreon, I'm not convinced that we can do a lot there: https://www.patreon.com/zemarmot, https://www.patreon.com/pippin . I'd rather spend time figuring out how to get more people to subscribe to the development fund. |

@500Yen
I don't know about the font used in the krita logo, but previously in the kickstarter banners and elsewhere we are using a font names "Day one". |

Thank you for that info 'Days One' is a google font so i can freely use it in any marketing material. I will look into how to best utilise it with other fonts. |

re twitter: there seems to be a couple of fan twitter accounts but they look relatively inactive, as you guys are currently doing well with twitter I will leave it in your hands In regards to patreon, I can ignore patreon for now and work on generating more focus/interest towards the development fund. Essentially they serve the same purpose and require the same marketing tactics so for me it is much of a muchness. The one benefit that Patreon has is user interaction and the ability to offer small rewards for their contributions which can act as incentive. It may be possible to run both donation pools at once, I will look into it if you want. |

We might be able to re-use librepay if the user interaction is interesting: rewards are quite iffy and the reason Patreon charges VAT inside the EU on top of the donation pledges. |

Might be a bit less relevanr, but I felt like sharing this here.
The libreoffice i.e. the document foundation released it's annual report. Might be worth a read and see if we can take a point or two from it https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ima ... 2016HR.pdf

While browsing the libreoffice wiki i found the marketing section, where they have all the resources and guide to join marketing team, among other things, may be we can have such a place too, also I guess we have a press kit section on our website, we should have it if we don't, also it would be nice to have flyer, brochure , and other material available for download, which our users and supporters may print use to spread word about krita at local conferences etc. It would help them to print flyers brochures or posters and it will keep our brand image consistent everywhere.
Edit: Link for libreoffice marketing wiki : https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Marketing |

The krita project is free to use my 3d animated python powered logo as a marketing material for the animation/new python scripting features. Just abide by the PSF logo guidelines.

I don't think anyone is saying that Krita can't be used for painting at all, and it is certainly specialized for many artists' needs. But, if there are people who don't believe Krita can't be used for painting, it's probably because they can't use it effectively on their computer due to their low-end hardware, or they don't really find that much features useful and hence the clutter, and those two are the only reason why I would think someone wouldn't feel that Krita can't be used for painting. There's also people who use Krita other than its intended focus, and they are very happy with it, and this is the thing that will be observed more and more as Krita gets more feature-abundant.
