Hello, I posted it on reddit, I'm posting here too.
A while ago I posted on /r/krita asking if there was a Krita Discord server. well, it does not exist, until now. I created and configured a server, everybody is welcome to join. This is the link to join the server -> https://discord.gg/MmrgH8d The invitation is open to the forum moderators if they want to moderate there. Also the Krita Developers who want to participate, there is already a role for developers there. -The server has an auto update for posts made on /r/krita. So anyone on the server will have a direct link to every new post there. I'm looking for a way to have the tweets from @Krita_Painting automatically posted there as well, making everything as connected as possible. who knows also the Krita forums For those who do not know Discord is a free real time communication tool that you can use on desktop and mobile, any system. It's like a slack, IRC, teamspeak, skype, twitter, all in one. Nowadays it is the main communication tool for gamers and other communities, incluiding some art communities and softwares. https://discordapp.com/ *This is not an official community, at least it is not recognized as one. But it is the only one that exists on Discord and available for those who want to participate

Awesome!
Let's make it official, Discord is more user friendly and functional than IRC, so it will be a good idea to have an official Discord server. |

That will not happen, sorry. Discord is proprietary and therefore not suitable to be an official communication channel for the Krita project. Only free and open platforms are possible.
I'm fine with people helping each other and discussing Krita anywhere they want, but it will not be the place where the Krita team hangs out and discusses development and other Krita-related issues. See the very similar discussion that was being held KDE-wide in 2017: https://mail.kde.org/pipermail/kde-comm ... 03664.html . That discussion lead to a a bit of research work on whether there would be a suitable successor for IRC but after the preliminary results were published, nothing happened: https://sessellift.wordpress.com/2017/0 ... -solution/ . |

I'm not a software developer, so I can't speak in that regards.
But for a community chat, where users could talk it would be very useful and even if it's not official, letting people know about it would be good. |

I think it is fine for community/artist chat. It won't work for normal developer type chat, but I doubt that is why you guys wanted to create it anyway.

Note: KDE now has an official Matrix server; it might be useful for Krita to adopt it: https://community.kde.org/Matrix
I personally find Matrix a lot easier to use than IRC. |

The krita matrix channel is linked to the krita irc channel and vice versa, so there are already people using matrix to participate. I haven't found a matrix client I liked, though.
