I usually need to clone from one raster layer to another raster layer. However, despite I follow the "usual" sequence after select the clone tool:
1- Select source layer 2- Ctrl+Left click on source area 3- Select destiny layer 4- Left click and drag to begin to clone ... I only get to clone on the same layer. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you |

Hi! You can't paste into an existing layer, or clone into an existing one in Krita.
The way to do what you described in Krita is: 1- Select source layer. 2- Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer. (or Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V if it is a selection within the layer) 3- In layer stack, Move the duplicate layer over the destiny layer. 4- Ctrl+E to merge down the duplicate layer in the destiny layer. |

Thank you Deevad. Maybe I explained scenario the wrong way. I don't want to clone a layer, I want to use the clone tool like I do in only one layer. I have two distinct raster layers (A and B) and I want to clone (with clone tool) from A to B or vice versa. If I want clone from A to B , I'm doing this: 1- Select layer A 2- Ctrl+Left click on source area (or point) 3- Select layer B 4- Left click and drag to begin to clone I expect I described my question now the right way |

Ha, my bad for not getting the question.
The 'Clone Tool' by default only grab source of sampling on its own layer. If you want to clone across layers, you'll have to activate the option "Clone From All Visible Layers" in the Brush Editor. |

I clicked the button "This answer solved my question" just under just previous post. Now appears "Set topic as unsolved", so I don't know what more to do!!!! I don't find any other button related to close this thread
Anyway, please, a latest related question: I read in a Krita document that it's possible to make ANY brush act like clone brush enabling "Duplicate", but I never found that option .... could you solve this last question? Thank you again Regards |

Hehe no worry I'm not sure how the forum is working.
Maybe you need to edit your first message to edit title and write [solved] upfront? It sounds really manual. Thanks for trying
I never saw an option like that on all brush engines. Maybe it existed, or still exist hidden on the GUI; but since I started using Krita (2010), I never saw it. If this document was part of the official documentation, I would be happy to get the URL to read it. (and eventually, report it to be corrected) But the clone brush engine supports predefined brush tip; so you can clone with any type of shape. You'll find all the shape and spacing in 'Brush tip' on the brush editor , and the tab 'Predefined'. It should allow you the creation of a lot of various brush shapes. Eg: |

I can't change the "Topic" neither, only the tags
This is the page https://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=137&t=85939 . Maybe I misunderstand what he said. I can't get to find the "Duplicate" option.
This is one of the best functionalities of Krita: Its flexibility. I didn't know that possibility!! I'll play with it, thank you. |

Ha, this forum post of Kubuntiac is from another era (2010), when Krita was at Krita 2.x version. I remember this time. Things changed *a lot*.
"Duplicate" was probably the name of the "Clone" engine at that time and brush presets were not working the same way they do now. His advise was certainly just to switch to the Clone Engine ( Engine were buttons in a column at that time) to access the Clone feature and transform active freehand/square/circle tool selected into a clone tool. |

I found that post looking for an answer for the question that you solved yet. I guessed despite it was from 2010, the option was disposable in brush gear still, but you clarified the question: I must forget that possiblity
