An implementation of Cryptomatte in Krita would be a really impressive way of making Krita stand head and shoulders above all other painting applications for matte painting when the initial source is coming from a 3D package.

Hi,
Feature requests like these are something we can do literally nothing with, as you don't tell us what it is, or, more importantly, how you plan to use it. As it stands this request is only useful for someone who can program and knows exactly the workflow this is intended for. If such a person exists they can come to the #krita irc on freenode and we can guide them through the building process and finding the right places in Krita to modify, it is after all open source. As it stands we can't even put it up as a fundraising goal, because I can't figure out at all what the purpose of this is. |

My sincerest apologies.
Cryptomatte is a way of storing mattes within an exr image to make it easy to select individual elements from a 3d render which supports anti-aliasing, motion blur, and depth of field. Here is a video of how it works from 3d render to compositing software: https://vimeo.com/136954966 The way I had imagined this would be useful would be to allow for easy and robust selection of individual elements from a 3d render to be painted over. A wonderful hybrid between compositing and matte painting. I can definitely see if I might be able to reach out to programmer friends or try and brush the cobwebs off of my own programming skills (utterly lacking though they are) and see if I could come up with something and reach out to the irc link you provided. THANKS!!! |

Any updates on this? I am interested in this also, since it's useful in Blender.
I was just trying to save a grayscale EXR image from Krita, but Krita converts my grayscale to RGBA during the save process. I can't figure out a way around this. I can create a grayscale image, but have no way of saving it as such. I can't believe this hasn't come up as a problem yet. (I'm searching the forum) Thanks! |

No, nobody is working on this, and for the sponsored developers, it isn't a priority. That means that if you need it, you either need to develop it, or find someone and pay them to develop it for you.
