I think the same as slangkamp, if kubuntiac is serious about this then by all means use the tool you feel most comfortable with.
if needed I guess you can switch cms, like the forums switched of bulleting board |

Oh! I never realized this wasn't a krita'ed mockup but a working website . We do have a place to host krita.org already, and we can install pretty much any software that's needed to run your design. I also have got some chunks of content, like a faq, that never made the transition to the new koffice.org website.

Well, just say the word. I've got a kind of crazy next couple of days, but after the weekend I'm good to go. All I'd need for Joomla, is ftp and a way to set up a mysql database (eg phpMyAdmin).

Well, the guy who wanted to fix the drupal installation that's now at krita2d.org has disappeared again -- at least, I haven't heard from him for over a week now. I would like to go on with your design and put it somewhere life as krita.org and krita2d.org (we have both domains). What would be most practical? We have a server where we can host it -- the same server as koffice.org, an offer from Kovoks to host a joomla-based website, or we can put it somewhere else. I guess at least Cyrille and I need to be able to edit and add content (like the old faq and the old gallery that disappeared).
Shall we discuss this today on #krita on irc.freenode.org? |

Sure. I just need to know what time zone you're in so we can define "today" (it's 4:24am here right now )
I'd suggest putting it at Krita.org, and hosted on the KDE infrastructure. My experience is that finding a good commercial host can be a nightmare. Just today we finished arguing with our old host who had charged us for 6 months of hosting twice in one month, on two separate accounts. I think that this wouldn't be a problem on the KDE servers! Of course, whoever you wish can be given administrator rights into the site. Editing is through a simple wysiwyg editor. As long as I can get ftp access and some way of creating a mysql database/user, I can set it up pretty much anywhere, assuming they have all the regulars like PHP, MYSQL etc. Maybe you could let me know contact details for whoever runs the server, so I can run it all past them. I'm looking forward to seeing this moving, especially now my Krita is compiling again! \o/ |

That's about six hours of difference -- I'm in CET. But feel free to ping me whenever it's convenient. I'll probably be away from ~19:00 CET. In any case, I'll clean out krita2d.org, remove the drupal install. I think there must be mysql available, for drupal to work, but I'm not sure whether there is a web frontend. But I can give you ftp and ssh access.

This weekend is also a good time for me to work on this, so the timing's good. SSH + FTP is also fine. Almost guaranteed there's mysql if Drupals there, so I think we're good. Either way, I'll make sure to backup, backup, backup first.
Anyway, I'm heading off to bed. I should be up and available on IRC around 16:00 CET (16:30 if I sleep in ) so we can finish up then. Also, I'm wondering why krita2d.org rather than the shorter, simpler krita.org domain? Your call. Cheers |

We didn't have krita.org back then, it came free later on. When the website is up, we'll point krita.org at it. 16:30 is perfect for me. I haven't figured out how to access mysql yet, but I've mailed the guy who gave us the hosting for enlightenment.

16:30 it is then!
MYSQL via SSH is easy. It's often easier than via a webgui. No problems there, as long as the SSH user has permissions to create a database and user. |

Hey Boud,
I'm on #krita right now. You seem to be too, but I'm having trouble getting your attention! Ping me if you're available. EDIT: Dang! I just realised I said I'd be up at 16:30 above, when I meant 18:30 (24 hour time melts my brain at 5:00am in the morning)... My (public) apologies! |

Done! It now works down to about 985px wide. Done! Thanks to the very cool SmartFeed feature of this forum. Link to screenshots is done... not sure where we want to send people to download? Seems kind of overkill to send them to the download page for the entire Koffice suite if they've only clicked to download Krita... |

You may also wish to check the SearchFeed feature, which is an improvement on SmartFeed. It supports all features of forum search.

I took a very quick look and didn't see any information on it. Is there somewhere you can point me to? |

OK, that kind of looks like what I'm already using. It give me the idea though to also show posts mentioning Krita from the other KDE sub forums (not just from the Krita forums).
You can see how it's going by visiting http://Krita2d.org/index.php The index.php part is important, as currently Krita2d.org just goes to a "We're improving the site" page. There's still quite a bit to change, but the basic structure is there. |
