Krita devs have been hard at work this week adding dodge and burn to your paint toolbox, as well as an enhanced pixel brush (see the pictures at the link below) and a new feature called alpha locking.

A new feature starts its appearance in the pop up palette, while bugs are stomped from the selection tools and the Open Raster format.
