Dark theme:

A dark theme is all the rage these days. From 2.5 Alpha 1, Krita supports choosing a dark theme while your desktop keeps it's ordinary light theme -- thanks to code written by the Digikam developers.

Go to settings/theme and select one of the standard KDE dark themes, or configure to open a dialog to download new themes. Note: this dialog doesn't yet work on Windows. I will package a choice set of standard dark themes in the next Windows installer, though.

Hi boudewijn
I have just added a super dark scheme inspired by Photivo night.

I like the theme but, is it possible to darken the text a little bit? I think it's too bright and its quite distracting. something like hex #aaa instead of almost #fff could be nice to help work on krita.
I personally use Krita Bright theme an 50% theme. I would love to use dark themes but the text is way to bright on both of them.

You can use alt with the move too to snap horizontally or vertically! Very useful to keep in line! I just discovered this yesterday :)

Ohh also! Learned this for pixel art! If you set the selection color mask to transparent (usually it's red) and use the specific color selector you can use it to be able to change a single specific color without the selection ants getting in the way! Very useful if you need to tweak individual colors. It's hard to describe but I don't know how to add pictures in this forum...

EDIT: I learned a while ago that Ctrl-H hides selections! So no need to change the selection color mask at all :)

If you're using a Surface tablet, you can zoom and pan with two fingers on the screen!
