Sounds like Team Krita has been busy this week, faster painting with the sumi-e bristle painttop, intial reintroduction of the magnetic selection tool (similar to Gimp's magic scissors) to the 2.X series of Krita and .exr files get multilayer abilities. (EXR is George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic's HDR file format that let's you show a wider range of light to dark). More manual work, bug zapping and a whole bunch more.
