krita and exr.. does not work

Thu Nov 04, 2010 10:32 am
I read krita has native exr support. why can't I open an exr file then? it opens the filter dialog, but there is no option of exr. I use 2.2.2 on ubuntu maverick
maybe its not compiled in at ubuntu version?

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3065125/yafaray.exr is the exr file

thanks in advance,

Yes, ubuntu doesn't package OpenGTL which is a necessary requirement.

but I can see a opengtl-dev and opengtl-tools packge ver. 0.9.14 in 10.10...
I assume I need the QtGTL library, too. its also there, ver 0.9.1

ok, so I have to recompile it with OpenGTL support... I hope that works with the standard debian procedure (apt-get source and so on).
what is the compile flag I need?
I will let you know if it works.

ok, getting stuck... opengtl-dev IS a dependency in ubuntu's version of krita, 2.2.2

if I install the dependencies with sudo apt-get build-dep koffice, opengtl-dev GETS INSTALLED.

So I assume that it is also installed when die maintainers did the package.

I also can see /usr/lib/kde4/libkritaexrexport.so
and /usr/lib/kde4/libkritaexrimport.so installed.

So WTF? this should already work!

Difficult to know :( Can you try to run krita from the command line with the filename in parameter ?

ok, I am not sure what I have done, but it works now. I have not recompiled anything,

maybe a kbuildsycoca4 issue? I got loads of errors on first run, mostly from some non-XDG compilant .desktop files.

as I am curious: why is krossruby and krosspython no depencency, nor in the recommended packages?

btw:
Krita segfaults at trying to invert an exr image.

Apart from that, it seems to work, tried to invert some jpgs.

Some more questions...

How to get rid of the sounds? just kde control center?

The startup window with the recent files etc, can it be turned off in order to go directly to the program's main window? I had that option in karbon, but did not see it in krita (am I blind?)

Is there anything else wrong with that output? lcms seems to have problems..

Re: krita and exr.. does not work

Can you post / pm / email the .exr so we can try it on our systems?

EDIT: Just spotted that you already provided the link. Unfortunately my Krita is compiled without openEXR support, so I'll need to recompile before trying...

That's weird... My Krita *is* compiled with openEXR:

Quote:
Found OPENEXR: /usr/lib/libImath.so;/usr/lib/libIlmImf.so;/usr/lib/libIex.so;/usr/lib/libHalf.so;/usr/lib/libIlmThread.so

Yet when I use file->open in Krita, openEXR doesn't show up in the list of supported file types... If I override that "Supported file types" filter by typing * and then trying to open an exr, Krita / Koffice asks me to choose a filter type to open the file, but - once again - openEXR isn't in the list.

Should I file this one on the bug tracker?

do you see png/jpeg in the list ? otherwise, I think it is a ubuntu bug. At least, works for me.

I get the same result via the command line as if I opened from the GUI. Just a request to choose a filter (I'm using ./krita /path/to/my.exr from install/bin folder)

Running Kubuntu 10.04.2 64 bit.

I have just recently started having the exact same problem opening EXR files.

1) Last time I used krita successfully was 2.2.1 compiled on 2010/11/09 used on 2010/12/16 to open EXR files.

2) Some update or another has caused pfstmo_fattal02 to fail with a vector error, and some of the other TMOs to behave badly.

3) On the same system I can **NOT** open EXR files successfully any longer using 2.2.2 or 2.3.0 (compiled 2011/02/28)

I *suspect* some library or another was updated in that time frame and broke both pfs-tools and krita since they rely on similar things.

4) I have not noticed any other graphics/image errors (gimp, rawtherapee, etc) all compiled prior to last good krita compile

5) a quick glance at my dpkg history 2 kernel updates, a couple libqt*, libgdraw, libgtk, etc.

I will carefully look through the log files instead of glancing quickly.

No, that's right. On Windows we do not support exr yet. KO GmbH is working on that, but it might only be made available to customers through the support program.
