For start, I'm not Krita target. I'm not an illustrator, and I'd love to use Krita for drawing-manipulation and compositing. I've looking around Krita for understanding and make some cool tutorials, and I have found these
suggestions. Tools Panel: Can't get an use for Connect Shapes Can't use Tree Editing Tool Some icons are confusing: Paint with brushes Create path The groups of tools Shapes with brushes can be joined in multi-layer selectors Shapes with brushes icons: --> Square -- Circle -- Poligon -- Path Degrees measurement tool must be with Ruler and Color Selector tool, they are measurement tools one for degrees, one for distance the other for color. Selection Tools can be joined in multi-layer selector too: Selections: Square - Circle - Paint selection - Lasso selection The shortcuts of the selection tool are odd. We can Shift- add selection, Ctrl- remove selection Shift+Ctrl - intersect selection. Nothing Replace selection. Selections can't be transformed? Now that we have some space, can add some missing icons, like: Vectorial Shapes Tools: Default - Geometric - Funny ¿? Why is a cross funny? And a text bubble? Maybe can change this categories names. Text Icons: Paragraph Tool - Artistic Text Tool SOME TOOLS: HAND Can't find an option for rotating canvas, I found it playing around. We can add a tool option button for this. When you press space, you get a pressed hand, if you are working with the tablet and press space and shift you can't rotate the canvas, you must select with cursor hand tool and then shift for rotate. Can this be fixed? Can be a shortcut be Shift+Space = Rotate Canvas? I would like to be able to get middle mouse button hand shortcut. PARAGRAPH TEXT Can't be scaled with Transform tool, and if you change with the selector only expand the container of the text. It would be great if you can scale up and everything is scaled, the font size, and everything. ARTISTIC TEXT The editing of the text is difficult. Can't be selected, kerned, it's very primitive. I think it would be awesome to have a good Typography-to-path-to-brush capacity. I have found typo to path. But can't brush a path. VECTORIAL TOOLS SHADOW PROPIERTIES Can't find a way to Blur that Shadow, neither layer fusion modes for the shadow. Shadow angle will be more intuitive if the slider was a circle kind. Shadow offset: separate X and Y offset is missing DRAW A PATH Style of the path can be dotted, line, but can't be a brush. It'll be great a "rasterize with actual brush" and "simulate pressure" with paths. Stroke position of the path is allways centered. It would be great an outside and inside position. MOVE TOOL Move tool can't move Shape Layers TRANSFORM TOOL Transform can't tranform Text Layers or Artistic Text Layers Transform tool-warp is a cool feature, but representation is a bit confusing. Think a grid over could help. But if we do a cool tutorial... XD The corner handles icon is a hand instead an arrow. MASK LAYERS Can't be shown the mask preview in canvas, the layer and a 50% masking over the layer? It would be great. If you want to paint some transparencies, you must do it blinded. The alpha lock icon what alpha locks? The alpha layer isn't the transparency layer? Add some context menu for Add this selection as transparency mask. It's SEVERAL THINGS Open and Import do the same work? If I open a .png or import a .png there is no difference, another instance of Krita with the .png opened. Think we can make Import work like Inser image as layer. The selector tool, the arrow, sometimes work moving layers other times not. Maybe we can mixed with the Move tool. I'm missing right click context menus for layers options and other things.(copy selection to new layer for exmp) Layer Effect, is an effect, put it in effects. And link the resultant layer with the shadow would be great. Well I hope this can be usefull. Greetings! |

Ctrl is already used for some other things e.g. Ctrl- zooms out. Selections are transformed like the layer, but can't be changed independently yet.
That is the vector based path. With the other path tool you can stroke paths with the brush.
When you open an image and press save it will automatically save to the file that was opened. When you import a file, saving will ask for filename.

This is really the only reason I want vector shapes for in Krita at all (ok, other than text). If you could apply a bitmap brush to a vector curve... and then edit that curve later and have the bitmap brush stroke updated... I would be in heaven. There is no app I know off - FOSS or proprietary - where you can combine raster and vector like this. The closest I can think of are Live Path Effects in Inkscape (all vector only) and Paint Effects in Maya (3d only, no bitmap). |

It should actually not be _too_ difficult -- if we create a new stroked path shape. It might be confusing in the gui, though. Or it might be possible to figure out how to do rendering plugins for the path shape...
