Everyone has seen the gray, cmyk and rgb templates that Krita has had for years. They date back to Krita 1.4, even. For 2.4, we really should have a good set of useful templates, like A4 at a given DPI and things like that.
I want to invite everyone here to start thinking of the list of templates we really need. When we've got that list, we can work together to create the templates and make sure they get into the release. |

Some ideas...

Hm... I think we need a new template system, one that doesn't store every template as a .kra file Or maybe just a set of presets in the custom image dialog. This list is wonderful, but too large to ship with the current template system!

As for me, templates with .kra is seems very useful, because of the possibility to save in it not just Image Size and Color Depth, but even pre-tuned layers. So, may be, if it is possible, leave this (or analogous) template system AND add presets for custom image. |

Yes, maybe it would be best to add these sizes as presets to the custom image dialog, that's a good idea. And easy to implement .

Okay, I've got something for this in master now -- it's pretty easy now to add new sizes, but they aren't categorized (yet), but do show up as a combobox in the custom image dialog.

What I forgot to add is: if someone wants to help out, it would be great if they could use git master to add the remaining predefined sizes al-dy mentioned and perhaps others. All you need to do is set the size/resolution correctly, give it the right name, and press save. You don't need to create the image, so it can be pretty fast work.
For naming, please use something like: Paper - A4 - 600 dpi Screen - QVGA (320x240) Video - PAL (720x576) Cover - CD cover (1429x1417, 300 ppi) I think for the paper sizes, that both 300 ppi and 600 ppi are useful. I haven't figured out translating these definitions yet... Then, when done, zip up your ~/.kde/share/apps/krita/predefined_image_sizes directory and send the zip file to boud@valdyas.org. I'll take care of the rest . |
