I got it "running" last night. I even managed to do a bit of painting with it, but it's quite unstable, apt to lock up at the slightest provocations. Exporting to other file formats than .kra doesn't work either. There are some more issues...

Very good news. I am lurking reading this forum for some time now but I decided to make an account and write a short note. Just want you to know that I am one of surely many persons that deeply appreciate efforts to make Krita work on Windows. Cant wait for this to happen. Also - thank you for keeping us all informed. Keep it up

For testing Krita in windows, we have to download the full Calligra suit? I think that is almost 1gb or even more, I don't remember.

Ha! Today I managed to fix the biggest deadlock issue. Exporting to anything other than native file format is still broken, as is the text tool, and for the blending mode combo you need to left-click to select, while for the brush engine selector you need to double-click, but I can paint now .
Soon, we'll put krita in the calligra installer (we've got nightly builds for that now, though still not public, just as an experiment), and then others can start finding the bugs... |

Sweet! I'm sure we'll have a huge rush of testers when a pre-alpha goes live. Any chance of a screengrab until then?

Sure: http://www.valdyas.org/~boud/krita_windows.png
But do note that this is at least the fourth time that Krita has run on windows, as proven by screenshots The only real difference this time is that I've got my own windows build cube to make sure it stays compiling. |

Last thing I heard was that work is done on the installer, but don't ask me when that will come out.

Hi! We've got a highly experimental version ready for installation now... Please report bugs and issues you find, but do understand that Krita on windows runs, but is not ready for doing real work yet. You might experience crashes and lockups way more often than on Linux.
See http://krita.org/component/content/arti ... or-testing for more information, or go directly to www.kogmbh.com/download.html to download the installer. (Krita is included in the full Calligra installer for now, so it's a big package.) |

Nice! I think I will mainly use Krita for painting and drawing, maybe some blur and sharpen filters, and color corrections. Thanks a lot for this, I will download it tonight, thanks again for this amazing work, I hope to help in the development, this will be my main painting software.

By the way, I already download it and install it, but I got this error.
The program can't start because QtCore4.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. How can I fix this? |

Maz, what kind of system do you have? It's a release build, so it should be optimized. On my windows system, it's pretty fast, but that's a rather monstrous i7 system with lots of memory. (On the other hand, it's a 32-bits build, which means that all that lovely memory cannot be accessed.)
