I can confirm that resizing the window is slow -- it's the same on Linux, actually. I guess nobody has really noticed before because most people work with full-screen.

For now means that in the future we could possibly expect lightweight, standalone version?

By the way -- with the release of the new Calligra beta (number six...), the windows package has been updated. Now it uses lcms2, so it should be much, much, much stabler. Please test!

Hi guys, there is still no fix for the canvas panning? I uninstall krita and install a new download one (I was thinking you guys did an update) but, the canvas is still slow, the only fix I saw was the color picker icon. By the way, I can't figure it out how to add text, I choose the font tool, but after that, it just say Artistic Text, something like that, and I can't find any input for writing my own text. Thanks for the help guys.

@Artsymptom, yes the text editing part of the UI is a little non obvious. To edit the text, change tools from the Text tool to the Basic shape manipulation tool. This is the small arrow icon in the top right corner of the toolbar. Double click on where it says "Artistic text" on the canvas.

You should see a blinking cursor, and be able to delete / type text

Do I still have to install whole package to use Krita? I dont mind even downloading whole thing but really not fan of installing bunch of apps that I am not willing to use at this point or ever for that matter. Dont get me wrong - not whining, it is all great you guys do - just wish to install what I want without additional 100 apps ;)

I ended up learning to compile just to get the latest Krita... and now I'm hooked on Karbon, Words and Tables as well. Beware! Krita is Calligra's gateway app... ;P

Yes, we don't have separated installers for various apps yet. That's a lot of work so we haven't gotten down to it.

Finally !
I have installed the windows version on windows seven 64 and, apart for a "The process for the file protocol died unexpectedly" when I create or save a file, and for not having the zoom centered when you mirror the image the program works wonderfully!
The problem I had on ubuntu with slower/laggy small brushes are gone away,it's really fast and it works great even at high resolution.
Thanks you very much developers for this piece of beautiful sofware!

Testing, no crashes so far, but I noticed most of the .icc profiles are not avaiable, I gues this can be resolved by the user simply downloading the profile pack in adobe's site or using backed up profiles provided by someone else. Also, with the normal text shape there's no character highlight when I select text (via cursor drag or shift+arrows).

We went through a profile cleanup recently; many of the adobe profiles turned out to have problems so we removed them. The text highlight in the text tool is a problem that also happens on Linux.
