As I am not at all a programmer, I will maybe ask a stupid question : for compiling in 64bits, would these softwares be useful ?
http://www.smorgasbordet.com/pellesc/
http://www.codeblocks.org/
And would this could help ? http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/24828
(I am sure that you are aware about all this stuff, but if I can help in a way...)

I ask you it, because since 2 weeks I am obliged to run Windows 8 64bits to have HDMI working (for my Cintiq) because of nVidia Optimus, and windows version of Krita have several difficulties.
As it is still new for me (windows is a pain at all levels) I have already these bugs (I used your last version, 2.7.8.6 which is much efficient than the previous one) :
  • I have too the feeling that Hight resolution can't be well supported
  • some brushes crash Krita (is there a link with too big resolution ?)
  • some files made with Krita under linux (Kmint) can't be opened under Krita windows. I reworked them in a Virtualbox Kmint to remove or merge some layers, and some of these files were able to be opened in windows. But not all...
I will try to be more precise in next days. If you need, I can send a brush that crashes each time.

boudewijn wrote:Okay, fresh installer created. Please when installing, uninstall your old krita installation and take good care that the krita install directory is completely empty. This time the installer has a version number :-). I would really love it if some more people on various versions of windows could do me a favour and the bugs that have been entered for Krita and that I have not been able to confirm or which might be fixed:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298690
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298461
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298865
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=298144
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=300145

I can confirm that the offset bug 298144 remains in Krita build 2.7.8.2 for Windows.

There's a new version up on the KO GmbH website :-). It fixes the local alpha lock and includes the canvas shortcut editor. However, there are few known bugs in that feature, so there'll be a new one soonish.

After installing and running 2.7.8.7, I get the following message: "Entry Point Not Found. The procedure entry point inet_pton could not be located in the dynamic link library WS2_32.dll". Anyone else?

@Chris Jones: Looks like you might have struck this: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums ... n-ws232dll

Based on that, it looks like one needs Windows Vista or above to run this version of Krita.

Oh zut... It's true that I didn't test on XP -- I haven't got an XP system left! But I don't understand why this could happen... I didn't change anything to the build process!

I was wondering did two latest krita releases were optimized using some intel libraries? Because at work with intel i5 krita run faster that old builds, but at home with my AMD x3 it is way slower...

Btw. there is color palette working now!
but it is not adjusting color swatches to width of column:

Curious, I installed it on a windows 8 system and the performance was very bad. The program was crashing frequently, and the interface was very laggy. Also hitting 'ctr' while the brush tool is active, brings up the magnifier instead of eyedropper.
Maybe it was the installation, I will try to make the process again. For the moment, I happily switched back to the previous build!

The canvas shortcut editor is an addition that you can find under 'configure krita'

If present, Krita uses AVX on intel processors. If there's no AVX present, Krita falls back to a legacy mathematics implementation which is a lot slower.

Ok, that is too bad for me. One more thing, I would have feature request - to make brush resize hotkeys work when in straight line mode. Resizing it top bar works, but I find myself constantly trying to resize it with [ and ], and it wont work

I have been trying to do a special amd build that uses yet another fallback mechanism, but the number of types of builds is increasing so quickly that I'm getting lost. Oh, and please enter a wish at bugs.kde.org for the [] thing :-)

Well that's bad news...

...but this gives me a small amount of hope. Happy to do any testing if it will help!

Say, was the warp transform tool improved too? I can actually use it in the windows version! :) A bit slow before the handles starts to move (I think I have to click on the area to get it "activated"? Doesn't seem to happen in the lime ppa version.) but it's a much better improvement since it caused the program simply to hang before in my case. Enabling opengl crashes though.

I can confirm the alpha lock is working here, the shortcut editor & palette is awesomesauce!

Hm... What's your graphics card/driver/windows version setup? I really want to nail as many opengl problems before I fold those changes into the master branch. (Currently, I build Krita on windows from the experimental opengl2 branch.)
