So the Google Summer of Code preparations have started again... And it's time to come up with a great set of ideas that fire student's imaginations! This year, the Krita team is a bit busier with Real Life than previously, so we're really looking for students with experience coding C++, Qt and graphics, not absolute beginners -- we usually are fine with helping people get started from the beginning, but that takes a huge commitment.
And of course, we expect any Summer of Code student to stay with the project, helping maintain their code and gradually spreading their influence and tentacles all over the codebase. That said, there's plenty of cool stuff to be done in Krita right now. Some of it is gui work, some of it deals with graphics algorithms deep down. First check out the ideas page: http://community.kde.org/GSoC/2011/Ideas#Calligra_Krita. The check out the Krita 2.5 thread for more cool ideas: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-kimageshop& ... 014567&w=2. But always keep in mind Krita's focus: making digital artists happy and productive. And then we expect you to start, before gsoc starts, with fixing some bugs from bugs.kde.org. Real bugs -- not just changing an action's shortcut . |
