maybe you just hid the menu bar by mistake - try: ctrl+m to bring it back

Yes, that's probably it. It's a KDE feature. Note: if you press Tab, you will hide everything, and can bring it back by pressing Tab again.

you could try reseting the krita rc file by renaming it, probably ~/home/.kde4/share/config/kritarc you could also try editing the rc file, the line might be something like MenuBar=Disabled (note: don't have Krita installed so just guessing) |

You could try to restore the default. Right click on the toolbar, then on configure toolbar and it the dialog on the defaults button.

Well your direction helped- thank you very much I found the krita config file and even with the permissions set correctly I could not edit the file. So I deleted the file and Krita started normally. Thanks a bunch- I love this program it is just a little ways from being a killer app The brush size should be on the menu bar- without a doubt It would be nice to have layers with guides like Visio or Fireworks The Text thing is sorta odd as well I really appreciate your efforts- Port it for Windows and you will be the next firefox |

if you tried editing it with Kedit (or Kwrite) the reason is that the editor will not allow editing a file with lines that are long (no idea the actual limit) because of a bug that will corrupt the file when saving it (or so I've been informed). You could use a different editor and that should work fine.

You can put the brush size in the menu. There is a dropdown next to the sliders where you can choose brush size. Then you can use the slider for brush size.

I'd also point out that you can change the brush size any time by holding down shift and dragging horizontally. Uber speedy! |
