Okay, please check in ~/.kde/share/apps/krita (or ~/.kde4/share/apps/krita) whether there is a kritarc file. If so, remove it -- this file overrides the default menu and toolbar configuration. That it accidentally removes some items it shouldn't is a KDE bug.

Please check whether this works.

You can also try setting->configure toolbar and then press Defaults.

here is a screenshot
there is no eraser button or tool transparency setting

I deleted the krita conf file twice and no change was seen

Ok i set my toolbar to defaults and got an eraser button= solved

looking for a tool transparency slider
