I bought a Genius tablet that work just sweet with MyPaint and i tought it would too with Krita but i find i have no pressure when i use the program under the Neon Session in Ubuntu 11.10, i updated my repositories 20 minutes ago but still no pressure, the configurations inside Krita about tablet support don't show anything usefull and my tablet is not listed under the "Devices" section of KDE, does this mean i can't have pressure? my tablet is registered as WALTOP under input devices and programs like GIMP and MyPaint can use it quite good (even tough the support with GIMP is terrible) how can i make my tablet have pressure to work with Krita?

greetings!

Hi RoboCane,

Your thread makes me think about this older one : viewtopic.php?f=139&t=98347
I think the answer of this support is side of Qt development. It may give you idea if you want to search for. Good luck

My understanding is that sadly, no brand of tablet except Wacom are supported for pressure sensitivity, and yes, that this all comes from QT (which is why Mypaint, Gimp etc aren't affected).

It's unfortunate because I have a beautiful, huge Aiptek tablet, but intead I need to use my tiny Wacom Intuos 3. Not much Krita dev's can do though without buying tablets and putting their time into hacking QT instead.

well, that's really sad, indeed bad news, that means Krita is not going to be of use for me now, well, anyway awesome job guys, i don't see QT caring to support other tablet brands so perhaps my best bet is gimp 2.8 which hopefully will have better support for pressure and button customization

thank you as always for your support and congrats for the new release

i'll mark it as solved since there is nothing to fix, sadly

Hi RoboCane
I own a Waltop tablet too
The good news are that now i have pressure working
Some advices:
-Dont install calligra from neon base ppa
-Dont install calligra whith kubuntiac script(im sorry, kubuntiac)

THE RIGHT WAY IS USING THE KUBUNTU BETA BACKPORTS under oneiric.
Add this ppa to your software sources in the package manager and search calligra
ppa:kubuntu-ppa/beta

Im using xubuntu. The sensitivity of pressure is creamy.Install the propietary drivers of my Ati card was a must to avoid crash when you tweak the settings of pressure tablet in Krita.
Good luck, and give me some feedback.Excuse my poor english
I dont understand the diference between packages, but only beta backports give me pressure.
Be happy,be a "kritter".

More good news for Waltop tablet owners.
While my desktop machine stays in oneiric whith good pressure performance,i upgraded my laptop to Xubuntu 12.04.
Pressure works perfectly in Krita.
I installed Calligra directly from Software Center.
Thanks.
