I was wondering if there is a way to select layer on the canvas directly.


Something similar to Photoshop's ctrl+click when in move tool.

well, the move tool has a mode to move the layer with content under the cursor, but that doesn't select the layer. It wouldn't be too hard to add to the move tool, though, since we already have that mode for moving. Selecting a layer then is easy.
