[quote="monkeyPlanet"]...Try copying the text below in your Krita.rc file and see if some shortcuts work (this is just a test)
Thanks for helping, but that didn't work. dashtwo ==Desktop/WIN32/Vista Home Premium/Krita 2.8.3.0== |

...The other one (I use windows 8.1) should be in something like C:users/"yourname"/appdata/roaming/krita/share/apps/krita. Your shortcuts will be in that. Thanks for your help!! That is just what I needed and it worked perfectly. I created 29 new shortcuts then copied and pasted the .rc folder in a different location. I also copied all the new custom shortcuts from the .rc file then pasted and saved them in a word processor. So, now I have 2 different backups and I don't expect to have any more shorcut problems. If something unexpected does happen, the backups should be able to handle it. Adding even more new shortcuts in the future won't be a problem. Seem the issue is if your trying to save you keys under, "Default Author profile", they now will disappear. After I created a new Author profile, my new short-cuts became immortal, no longer diappearing - though you'll have to re-select your profile each time you start Krita. I took the extra step of creating key profile too, but I don't believe that matters... though, just in case I did it under, "canvas input settings" - just hit edit profiles and copy and rename your own.
Not that it matters now but I noticed, my hotkeys where being saved to the file : C:\User\AppData\Roaming\krita\share\config\kritarc Hope that helps and good painting to you. nanoo nanoo! |

I'm still having this issue in Krita 2.8.5, on Ubuntu 14.04, x64. Krita "forgets" my custom keyboard shortcuts every time I quit the application -- even when I assign them with a different author profile or shortcut scheme.
I'd like to be able to just take care of this from the Krita user interface. Having to edit an XML file seems like kind of a nightmare. |

This reset shortcut thing was fix it in 2.9 release. and some earlier testing stage. I have no problem with this reset thing anymore

Well that's good that it's fixed in 2.9, then. I haven't been able to get the PPA working, so I can't get the latest version of Krita running on my computer. I'll be upgrading the OS when the new version comes out soon, though, so hopefully(?) 2.9 will be available then.

Thanks for the tip, I was looking for the file where the shortcuts are saved! On Linux, it's also: ~/.kde/share/config/kritarc I was looking in the online help but couldn't find this info (quite useful to find a way to export your cherished shortcuts through all the versions/reinstalls in my view!): https://userbase.kde.org/Krita/Manual/FAQ#General |

Personaly, I can map the "Fill" tool as I want (for example "$").
WHich errors do you have when you try it? |

you can, but the thing is that the name of the fill tool is different. Search for whatever was set to 'f', that ought to help you find it.
