Hi Pacman

I can't help you with Krita, unfortunately (I have never used it). I just wanted to point out, that Userbase.kde.org is wiki that anyone can edit. So, if you think that current documentation is wrong in some way (or misses something important), you may just start editing.

It is true that the developer is finding it hard to keep the documentation up to date, and he would definitely welcome help. Add/edit as required - I'm pretty sure that he will have a watch put on it, so he will know if you hit any problem and jump in to help you.

You can register at userbase.kde. org and then edit the manual. A group layer in krita is slightly different from the same thing in photoshop: in krita the layers contained in the group are composited separately from the rest of the image; then the result is used in the composition of the image. This is actually recursive, of course. So in a sense, a group layer is a little image composed of layers in itself, embedded in a larger image. In photoshop, all layers are composed linearly, as far as I know.

To know:
Old Krita manual (section 5.3, warning: the size of the manual is about 27 MB)
GIMP documentation

To add:
Krita Manual on UserBase (see the sections in Chapter 3).
UserBase tutorials on how to contribute
