you can use the backports ppa for that: http://www.kubuntu.org/news/calligra-2.5 has the details.

I just develop what Boud and Google01103 said, but more adapted to a user, not a coder o) :
( Note: Via this ppa , you have to install the whole calligra suite to have Krita. )

Open a 'terminal' , and type or copy/paste line after line this :
Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install calligra

It will add the Kubuntu backport to your software sources , update the package list , and finally install Calligra 2.5.
When all is over, you can close your Terminal, Krita should be installed.

Actually, when I checked in a fresh kubuntu vm this morning, it gave me the option to install krita on its own. I used the muon package manager, added the extra repository and then -- this was the trick -- didn't search for krita, since that didn't work, but scrolled down until the late k's, and found three krita entries, all of them for krita 2.5.

Oh good news Boud ; I was hesitent to give a "sudo apt-get install krita" because I didn't saw it on launchpad. Good news !

So Pacman , you can do this to have only Krita installed :

Code: Select all
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install krita
