EDIT: I dont know much about commands. But in Krita's desktop file (/usr/share/applications/kde4/), I saw the terminal command is

It said "not currently installed... Install by
So installed that from synaptic. and ran kbuildsycoca4 and there was hundreds of lines and the ran krita...This time the application started but had no splash screen I mean there ws a white splash screen only. And then got a error window on top of the krita's main window which said... "Could not start process Cannot talk to klauncher: The name org.kde.klauncher was not provided by any .service files." And there is no icon in the whole Krita windows...No Icon in toolbar or anywhere. if I hover mouse, i can see there are things like buttons butotherwise a clean toolbar having no icon at all. This is happening each time. EDIT: An Important note. Until this only a 22mb of krita installation was being done by software centre and synaptic. So i purged krita, installed it with
Now ran krita again...It started decently with a splash screen, But still i get that error window and No icon. Error msg in terminal
At the near end of the installation, I got few lines in the terminal "

erm... that's really weird, and I suspect a packaging problem by kubuntu.

So what to do? Wait until the next update from Kubuntu-backports? I tried to run it in guest session to see if everything's alright. But in guest session, krita didnt even start. Also, if I close the error window everytime, iget a normla krita window. What is missing? and what the error actually means then? |

I've asked a kubuntu guy for advice, but basically it looks like the install is broken, a lot of necessary dependencies don't seem to be installed. Waiting for it to get better probably won't help. It's also not a a problem with krita specifically, but a problem with ubuntu, so the best thing would be to go through their support channels.

I hope soon the guy can answer you. Yeah i'm tired of reinstalling and removing krita the whole day ![]() You mean ask in ubuntu's support forum? |

From what I've read, we don't have the complete KDE environment etc. so with a little searching (Ubuntu forums) I got Krita working by:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports -y sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install kde-standard success! ![]() |
