If the brushes show up under a new user, then we can return to your normal user account and continue to investigate. If they do not show however, you'll probably need to reinstall Krita.

I already tried reinstalling Krita, but its as if there are some files its not getting rid of, that store my user settings.

Check in your user directory/AppData/Local/.krita -- I think that's the right location on Windows

That file seems to control the last saved document name and location. I deleted it as a test. All it did was change my predefined document to load. It did not affect the brushes. hmmmm

Reinstalling Krita *will not* remove your existing settings. Please do try a new user if you are able to - it is the only way to eliminate user specific settings as the cause of this.

Don't know if this has been solved, but I figure this will help the next person with the same question. Just like everyone's saying, once you delete a preset it doesn't really get deleted, just blacklisted. To fix this on windows you have to make sure you can view "hidden folders". I have Windows 7, so on windows go to:

C:\Users\(Your user/admin/main name...mine is "Art")\AppData\Roaming\.kde\share\apps\Krita

or for me it looks like:

C:\Users\Art\AppData\Roaming\.kde\share\apps\Krita

In this directory you'll see a file called "kis_paintoppreset.blacklist"

Open this file using MS Notepad and delete the lines that you want to get back as presets. For example if I want my old pencil brush back I'll delete the line that looks like this:

<file>
<name>c:/program files (x86)/krita (64)/share/apps/krita/paintoppresets/0_Graphite Black 01.kpp</name>
</file>

Once that's done save the file and close krita and restart (if you have it open when you do this). The preset will be back and all is good in the world :D

*** or you can delete the whole blacklist file and get all the old deleted files back ***
