Here are a few airbrush strokes.
![]() The two on the left are the default Basic_Airbrush with Painting Mode set to Build up, and the right one has spacing set to 0. At low opacity levels it produces some pretty severe banding, and I can't find any settings that give smooth results. Is this an inherent issue with the brush engine? The airbrush from deevad's kit works well for me -- but only in wash mode. I think that there is a basic incompatibility between the airbrush repeat system and the build-up mode. The airbrush should still spatter more ink on the screen using a timer, even in wash mode.

Well I thought I tried this already... but now I find that switching to 16 bit colour depth makes all the difference. 16 bit slows the brushes down though, so the question now is: can anything be done to improve the airbrush in 8 bit colour space?
I tried Deevad's kit by the way, and I'm afraid I'm still seeing the same kind of artifacts as above (in 8 bit) - although slightly reduced since it's in wash mode. Wash mode is harder to control though as it can step abruptly through pressure levels creating even more visible edges. EDIT: I take that back - painting is much faster in 16 bit than 8 bit! It used to be the other way around. Colour me confused... (c: |
