I am looking for a way to make a backup of the installed Version, so that i can update the testing-build while keeping a stable 2.8 to step back if things went wrong.
I am sure there are several possibilites, but i am looking for a simple one without backing up a massive amount of data like i would if i clone the partition for example... I have taken a look at apt-clone, but as far as i understand it, apt clone saves all installed packages. It would be nice if anyone could point me to a solution ![]() |

It all depends on what you want to back up... In the case of Krita a quick

Ah another useful command that i should keep in mind^^
I think i have solved what i wanted. I have just updated Krita and downloaded the package files for this version. For future updates i should be able to reinstall from this packages if the build gets unstable in some way. The problem is just that there is only the latest build available for krita-testing - no older versions, but this way i can keep my own "version-history" at least from now on. Normally i have not to deal with stuff like this.. using synaptic packet manager solves most things automatically for me^^ So problem solved (i hope ![]() ![]() |

Lol, yep! There is no such thing as a backup, really. Your krita specific settings are located in ~/.kde(4)/share/config/kritarc and glad you got it sorted ![]()
