I just downloaded krita and the dynamic movement tool does not appear to be working. Whenever I use it all I can do is create straight lines from the upper left corner of the canvas. Has anyone else experienced the same problem and if so how did they solve it?

Are you using Windows? On Linux it works here.

So no one has had a similar problem and knows how to solve it?
The only other odd thing I noticed was that while I downloaded Download Krita 2.7.8.13 (x64) for windows it says I am using Krita 2.8 Pre-Alpha when I go to "Help" and "About Krita". Did I download the wrong version somehow? |

Sorry, I was travelling. We have some problems with some tools/smoothing ops on Windows. I'll be working with Dmitry on those this weekend. I can confirm that the paint with dynamic movements tool is broken on Windows (as is weighted smoothing)
As for the version numbering, it works like this: 2.7.8.13 means: 2: major version, it'll change to 3 when we port to Qt5 7: current stable version, with subversion running up to 6 indicating bug fix releases 8: alpha for what will become 2.8 (9 means beta) 13: build number: it's the thirteenth installer I built for the 2.8 alpha branch (which is actually the current development branch). |

Dmitry fixed that tool (and the weighted smoothing) today, and the fix'll be in the next build. The reason: Windows doesn't know the difference between infinity and NotANumber.

That's awesome! Thanks, Dmitry!
I've got to say, that's a strange quirk of Windows. |
