Question about Duplicate tool (brush)

Hi all,
I'm new to Krita.
Is it possible duplicate parts of an image (using duplicate brush) to a new layer?

Hello!

If you instead make a selection and then copy+paste, it will automatically be on a new layer. You can do what you want with it then.

So it's not possibile to have a different source layer for the duplicate tool...
