Is there a way to import or move the pictures from the reference view to a layer? Sorta like how mini bridge in photoshop can place images on layers?

Not from the reference docker, but you could drag and drop from the file manager.

I've just opened this feature request: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=325042
Artmessiah: I will start working on this during the coming weekend. Could you please describe your workflow in more details? Do you want the icons from the reference docker dragable? To the canvas and/or the layer list? |

My workflow in regards to the question is that I would like to be able to, as you said, drag the images (thumbnails) from the docker to the canvas/layer to use as a base texture/palette for illustrations or to use the picture as a base texture for line work prior to rendering. I normally use mini bridge in Photoshop to accomplish this, but since I'm seriously moving away from Photoshop for painting I kinda missed that option. Here is an example of what I mean. ![]() ![]() The monsters fins and legs use pictures of barnacles and fish patterns that I dragged from mini bridge. It's not a paramount feature, but it would be nice to have. Feng Zhu uses a similar technique for his work as well only he doesn't use mini bridge but instead multiple images opened in Photoshop. Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fO0XV2Smiw Krita doesn't do multiple open docs in one instance of Krita so the option to use the reference docker for this would solve that problem - for me anyway. Thank you for taking a look at this, it would be an awesome feature and I'm sure a lot of artist would appreciate it. Oh, and if you can make work in 64bit Krita that would be extra awesome ![]() |
