Creating Predefined Brushes

Fri Sep 20, 2013 3:07 am
Hiya,

Could someone please point me towards the proper procedure for making a library of brush stamps that can be recalled for later use (presumably that's what the Predefined Brushes panel is for)? For all my fumbling about with custom brushes and clipboard brushes I can only produce ones that work temporarily until Krita is closed, or ones where the image is replaced with a different one or lost altogether, or I can't access "use color as mask" because it's greyed out, and so on and so on. I tried this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnol3izU ... e=youtu.be , but it just captures white canvas instead of the image in the layer.

Thanks for any help,

In the custom and clipboard brush tabs there is a button to add it to the predefined brushes at the bottom.

Thanks for the reply slangkamp. There's a "Save brush" entry field in the Clipboard Brush panel that makes the brush show up in the Predefined Brushes (in fact two or more already appear there without doing anything), but when Krita is closed and reopened again the brush is nowhere to be seen, and any presets using that brush revert to a different one and have a red cross on their icon. Also I can't get Custom Brush to work at all, except when there's an image copied to the clipboard.

A Windows issue perhaps?

Yes, I think that's a windows issue. There's some confusing in the windows version about where to save local settings. I hope I have fixed that now and I'll be making new installers after the wintab branch gets merged.

2.7.8.20 is working much better in this regard, although it's still a little quirky (definitely useable now though). I've also uncovered some other niggles which I'll probably collate in a separate thread.
