I'm trying to learn Krita (2.8 Beta 1, Windows XP) by coloring some line drawings that I have. Most of them are 8-bit greyscale JPG. When I open them, the pallet shows me a range of greyscales. After I convert the image to 8-bit RGB (using "Image Properties"), the information under the image says "RGB (8bit integer/channel) sRGB built-in" However, the "Advanced Color Selector" still shows a greyscale pallet. If I use the wrench tool on the pallet, it brings up a selection of color pallets, but no matter which one I select (including "Restore Defaults") the only colors I can choose are greys.
How do I get a color pallet to show on a color picture that was loaded as a greyscale image? This seems like a bug. |

Try using "convert image colorspace" instead. The color selector follows the color model of the current layer. In Krita you can have layers of different color models combined in one image. If you change the color model using the image properties, only the resulting image's color model is changed, the layer remains grayscale. If you convert the colorspace, the layer gets converted too.

Thanks for the help. That works. That leads to another odd issue, though. If I load a greyscale image, the "channels" tab shows grey and alpha channels. When I convert it to RGB, it shows Red and Green channels only. I can paint with blue, and I can have transparency. I just can't access those channels.
