I'll put this plain and simple; this program crashes too much.
I love the interface, the brushes and tools, but it's so annoying. I spent 3 hours on a painting only to have it crash when I tried to use a big brush to fill in the canvas. Thinking it was a one time problem, I restarted the program and worked on a new painting for 4 hours without a problem. I tried to use a paint bucket, and it crashed. It just crashes without a warning, too. It's hard to expect so I don't want to save every 5 minutes, mostly because I forget. Is there anyone with a solution to this problem? Thank you. |

Well, as a developer I don't get to use Krita for long stretches at a time... But there are plenty of artists who use Krita as their main tool. Can you tell us which version of Krita you are using, exactly, and on which operating system? For instance, with a 32 bits version of Krita on Windows, chances are much higher of running out of memory than with the 64 bits version.
As for the paint bucket tool, again especially with 32 bits versions of Krita, there are size limitations. We have sponsorship for two weeks of work on that, after the 2.8 version is released. More help is welcome, of course ![]() |

It also crashes for me from time to time. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 and using Krita 2.7.1 (don't know if its 32 or 64 bits version, though). Thankfully, it autosaves, so I never lost much work

Hi, Kanimir!
I would really recommend you to update up to Krita Lime version of Krita, which is much more stable and has quite many features which 2.7 doesn't. http://dimula73.blogspot.ru/2013/05/kri ... sions.html |

To be honest, I'm a newbie when it comes to Linux, I don't know how to install it

You might need to logout again, too. If you experience a crash, please do report it, especially if you can reproduce it. We do want to make krita really stable, but we need the cooperation of our users to achieve that.

Well, please do report crashes to us. If you have a crash and can reproduce it, we're _very_ interested! |

@Hanakoi Boud isn't asking you to avoid it, he's asking you to tell us exactly how you are crashing it, so that we can fix it! We're not wanting you to avoid doing things, we want you to be able to fly around and do everything you want with Krita, we just need to know how the crashing happens, so when you notice something crashing, take down a process to make it crash, and tell us how to do it - not how to fix it, just how to make it crash, we'll do our best to take it from there

Okay lemme list the random occurrences where it crashes.
~Using too big of a brush ~Saving it (wow.) ~Clicking that weird paint bucket that isnt actually the paint bucket, I have yet to find out the purpose of that tool. ~Putting in a text box ~Selecting a filter (in my case the blur filter) This is all I got to, because right now I am sick of it crashing while I'm hours into a project, especially the time when it crashed because I tried to save the project. I re-installed it many times, and my computer is brand new, so I dont know what the issue is. I love the programs brush and pencil settings, but if this program crashes again while I'm hours into a drawing I'm going to go mad. Until this problem is fixed I'll be going back to using SAI's inferior brush and pencil options. I realize I came across as a rude individual but after having the crashes happen while I'm doing a painting I'm very happy with, it kind of breaks my sanity. |

Well, the next build will be a lot stabler, in particular if your system is a bit memory-constrained. We found and fixed issues both with the virtual memory system and the fill tool. There are still more fixes needed, mostly for performance, but the next build would be a lot stabler.
