I'm *really* enjoying Krita and was using it on ArtistX, a live DVD, on an amd64 box with Linux Mint. I was missing tablet functions and the ability to save brushes, which is not a big deal since the basics are so much fun. Last week I bought a wacom Intuos Pen and Touch CTH480 and I went searching for a Linux distribution to use as a base. Linux Mint_16-64 Cinnamon KDE 'Petra' looked like the best bet mostly because wacom use was said to be enabled. I installed Krita_1:2.7.2-Oubuntu2, using KDE_4.11.3 and MyPaint_1.1.0-3 but getting wacom recognition is going slowly. I am sure I will be able to get the wacom set up properly or just wait for a newer version. I'm *not* just asking for help, but I'm watching the Cinnamon, wacom and linuxwacom postings for solutions. I downloaded input-wacom-0.20.0.tar.bz2 (2013-12-06 118.6 KB) and xf86-input-wacom-0.22.1.tar.bz2 (546.6 KB) after finding that the wacom was not listed under devices in Cinnamon. Cheers

It worked in the previous version. I had to leave cinnamon for this reason.

I have recently setup a new wacom tablet (intuos pro - not fully supported yet). The helpful stuff is freshly in my mind..
Here is a link with a good summary of the topic: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=110408 At the bottom you find instructions concerning the setup of your tablet (cth-480). For my tablet i installed input-wacom 0.20.0 and xf86-input-wacom 0.23. (the previous version 0.22 did not support my tablet) I use my tablet under gnome and kde. In gnome (3.10) i got it to work nearly out-of-the-box. For kde i used the kcm-wacomtablet (2.0-2.2), but the device was not recognized until i added it to the devicelist found under /usr/share/kde4/apps/wacomtablet/data -> wacomdevices (i have taken a look and the cth-480 is also not listed there) After i did that, the tablet was recognized correctly, so that i could use the tool to configure buttons, screen mapping and so on... You might also take a look here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327938 and here: https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s ... ion/229153 Both links are about configuring in kde, in case it does not work directly. Although it is about another tablet model, the steps are similar for any new wacom. |

The information on the first link you mentioned had the solution. It was to use Kubuntu_12.04.3 LTS. I tested it with a live DVD-RW and, after updates and additions of Gimp and Krita, it recognized the wacom tablet as, "Intuos PTS, vendor ID: 0x56a (Wacom Co., Ltd.), Product ID: 0x302. I can install it to hard drive, use it on live DVD or wait for the next LTS on 17 April. Many thanks. I also got some help regarding my wacom model from a chat member on my favourite streaming radio station, radiopecs.hu |

To sum up a short answer (even if this was already solved):
CTH 480 and 680 (i'm on 680) drivers aren't included in the kernel yet. To make tablets that are supported by linuxwacom but don't work out of the box work, you need to install input-wacom (Not the same as "xf86-input-wacom" which is however still required) Depending on your distro you may have to compile it from source (link I just gave) or build it from a special repository (like AUR for Arch) if you build it from a special repository, make sure that it's the latest version (compare versions from the repository to the ones in the link above) After building/compiling you probably need to activate the modules with the "modprobe" command, I don't know how it works if compiled from the normal source, but my DKMS package from AUR has a "wacom_dkms" module built, so "modprobe wacom_dkms" does it for me. It also depends on distro how you configure modules to be loaded at boot. (To do so in arch I created a file in /etc/modules.d/ with the contents "wacom_dkms") Good luck to anyone else having this problem ![]() |

I also had to struggle for several days until I get the Intuos Pro resognized by Kubuntu. I followed the instructions in linux-wacom site and the mint forum link you posted above and finally got it working. This was 2-3 months ago, until I updated the kernel and....the tablet is again not recognized. Not sure what I should do from now on. I had to switch to working only in windows again, until the issue is resolved.
