I have made a lot of shortcut changes on Krita. How would I transfer these changes when I update to a newer version?

Thanks!

Okay.

First of all: this is something that we want to make work much better for the next version...

That said:

Go to the AppData directory in your user folder. Check both Local and Roaming for a folder called krita. In that folder, locate share/apps/krita/krita.rc. Save this file to a safe place. It is an xml file that contains a section called ActionProperties. That has your shortcuts (at least, one set of them...). On updating, you can cut and paste this section to your new krita.rc file.

Also check share/config/kritarc. This has a section called [krita/shortcuts] Save that as well...

The shortcuts I changed at Settings > Configure Shortcuts are found here : C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\krita\share\apps\krita\krita.rc

I guess my custom brushes are located here : C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\krita\share\apps\krita\brushes

But, where can I find the changes I've made at Settings > Configure Krita > Canvas Input Settings ?

Interesting topic.
I would like to update too in windows 8 but I didn't do it yet because for me is essential to keep my shortcuts, brushes, inteface options to stay the same throughout the various versions...

Since we're at it, an advice: is it better to install the newer version over the older or uninstall and then install it again?

if you carefully keep both krita.rc and kritarc, your settings are pretty safe! Your custom brushes won't be overwritten either, but for additional peace of mind, just make a backup of AppData/Local/Krita/share and/or AppData/Roaming/krita/share.

I always uninstall before installing a new version, but that's only because calculating the necessary disk space takes ages otherwise.

Yes. I just updates to 2.8.1 and it really took long.

I overwritten the previous installation and everything is still intact.

And the zoom icon change to magnifying glass felt good for me. :)
