Which PO translation files do I have to edit to localized Krita completely? I'm editing krita.po and my friend is editing calligra.po. I tried localizing krita with these two .po files but there are some words which I can't find out in either of them. Please tell me!

We are trying to localize the program into Japanese, but before us no one in the Japanese team had maintained the translation of it. I'm afraid but I have no knowledge of software development and we currently need to search through all the PO files to find out the corresponding strings.

The po files are still kept in svn: http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/l10n-kde4/j ... /calligra/

The po files aren't perfect, there are way too few comments. However, pretty soon there'll be a sprint in St. Petersburg where a krita developer, translator and user will sit down together and go through all translatable strings, adding comments and making them more consistent.

I'll ask for a translator to add some notes here on how you should go about adding new translations.

Hello translators into Japanese,

You are saying no one in the Japanese team maintains the Krita translation. Even though there may be no new translations for Krita committed to the KDE SVN repository, I recommend you contact the translation team so that they are aware of you currently working on translation and
1. no one starts translating the same program concurrently,
2. other people might want to help you,
3. you can get info from the Japanese team coordinator about the steps to integrate your translation into the official translation package after you're done.

Please tell me what was your approach to translating Krita. Did you mean you are looking for English phrases in Krita user interface, find them by name in .po files a translate them there? Translators generally should not do it like this, it's more straightforward to translate every message in each .po file.

Hi aspotashev and boudewijn, thank you very much for your information.

tokiedian keeps in contact with the administrator of the Japanese team mailing list via Twitter and we are working on his advice. We are planning to post our translation using the mailing list when we get finished, but the admin said he would like us to send it to the Krita team directly if we could not get any response from the translation coodinator for our post.

In order to localize the program, we use a PO editor software with a translation memory derived from GIMP, Mypaint and Inkscape.

We have just had a reply from the admin and he said he will send our translation to the person in charge.
