I'm still fairly new to Krita, I've been using it for about a month now (and I LOVE IT!!!!)

I'm learning each function one by one and I've just got into working with different layers (and again, loving them! Making life so much easier)

The only problem I've had is whenever I quit Krita, it merges the layers together. Which is a bummer when I want to keep a character separate from the background.

I looked in the options and did some quick searches and I haven't found anything yet on how to stop it.

I'm using Krita Version 2.8.1 (KDE Development Platform 4.12.0) so I don't know if I'm using an out-of-date version.

Appreciate any help!

What kind of file format do you save to? Not all formats support layers -- png and jpg don't, .kra, .ora and .psd do.
