The pen display I use is nice, overall, but has limited viewing angles and colour accuracy problems. Because of this, I've found myself wanting multiple viewports of a single canvas, so that I can work on the pen display and preview as I go on another monitor. To my surprise, I found that Krita doesn't seem to have this feature now. I know it had it in the past; I remember using it and even found mention of it online when I searched to make sure I wasn't crazy. It was under the View menu, a "New View" choice, sometime around Krita 2.4, and now it's missing. I don't know exactly when it disappeared because I was using Debian's Krita versions for a long time before moving to Krita Lime repository, so I basically jumped from 2.4 to 2.7 when I switched, but it's definitely gone now. What happened? Why would such a useful feature disappear, and is it coming back?
Also, I do realise there is an Overview docker, and it has its uses, but it makes a poor replacement for multiple viewports. It can't be zoomed, panned, mirrored, or rotated, for example, while the second viewport could. |

Ha, that's actually a bug... The action is still there, it still works, it's just not shown in the menu anymore!
If you open, for instance, the toolbar config dialog, select the file <calligra> toolbar and look for new view, you'll find the action there. It's also in the shortcut settings dialog. I'll try to figure out why it disappeared from the menu -- it's actually still defined in all the menus! |

Odd that it vanished from the menu, but I'm greatly relieved that it's still available in some form. I was worried it had to get removed due to a bug or change somewhere. I added it to the Calligra toolbar, which actually works out pretty well for me. It's the only entry I have for that bar, so it doesn't take much space and is convenient. It looks like multiple views is going to be very important with the new hardware, so I'll probably keep it there even after the menu option shows back up, just for the convenience. :D Thanks for the quick response, and good luck figuring out why it vanished. Do I need to file a bug report on it or anything? I probably should have done that first, but I'm always wary of filing bugs against KDE stuff because I don't keep all the parts current and never know if my report would be irrelevant |

Well, no, no bug report is needed. I actually restored it to the menu already. This will change for 2.9, where there'll be an option to have more than one view on an image in the same window or in separate windows, as well as more than one image inside a window.
