So recently acquired a Huion H610 tablet and gave Krita a whirl a month back and found it wasn't supported in my linux desktop.
So intalled on my Win7 side as dual boot. And worked great using krita_x64_2.8.79.17.

Now just did a major update of my Debian based SolydK KDE setup. Getting 3.16-2 kernel, 4.14.1 desktop and Krita 2.8.5. Desktop effects set to OpenGl>3.0>Native
Code: Select all
orbmiser@winterfell ~ $ inxi -F
System:    Host: winterfell Kernel: 3.16-2-amd64 x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: KDE 4.14.1 Distro: SolydXK 1 testing
Machine:   Mobo: ASUSTeK model: M4A785TD-M EVO v: Rev X.0x Bios: American Megatrends v: 2005 date: 03/28/2010
CPU:       Dual core AMD Athlon II X2 250 (-MCP-) cache: 2048 KB
           Clock Speeds: 1: 800 MHz 2: 3000 MHz
Graphics:  Card: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD/ATI] RV710 [Radeon HD 4350/4550]
           Display Server: X.Org 1.16.1 drivers: ati,radeon (unloaded: fbdev,vesa)
           Resolution: 1680x1050@59.95hz, 1680x1050@59.88hz
GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on AMD RV710 GLX Version: 3.0 Mesa 10.2.6

Tablet is seen and recognized but lags terribly to be usable.
Gimp 2.8.14 totally freaks out and takes a minute for program to return to usable state and tablet totally unusable.

This is on a Dual-core Amd x250 3.0ghz - 4gb of ram - Ati 4350 on dual 22" displays.

Linux side - So is it because I'm using open default drivers? As is a legacy card.
Or version number since windows is 2.8.79.17 and works?
Win 7 side - Of course same setup but using a later version? of Krita and proprietary ati drivers.

As would like to resolve and understand how different the window version is to my current kde krita 2.8.5 and if learning to compile even a newer version on linux side is worth the effort? Or this really is more about Open default drivers vs. Proprietary drivers.

As would like to stay in Linux which presently is 95.45742389 % of the time. But if I can't resolve or find solution. Then afraid my Linux productivity use will drop down to around 50% which is kind of sad for me. And confusing as use darktable & Gimp for intensive raw image editing without issues.

Any info on these matters is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Try an older version of GIMP, as I'm also having trouble with the newest GIMP 2.8.14 with a tablet. As a result of this I reverted back to GIMP 2.8.10 and it works fine with my tablet. I have Googled "GIMP 2.8.14 brush lag" and it seem it does have a bug from what I've read.

What kind of problems are you having in krita?
Even though I don't have Linux I will still try to help. Even though it might be limited or not very helpful at all. :-\

Edit-
I am using krita 64 bit 2.8.79.18 and it runs well. Aside from brush lag. But I've been told this is being worked on that.

On Linux, depending on the driver (and I still need to setup tests for that) the Huion tablet might just be sending out too many events, bringing Krita and gimp to its knees.
