Brush doesn't seem to work

Sun Nov 23, 2014 6:21 pm
Suddenly the brush that I've been working with stopped drawing in color. I restarted the application just in case. I have 4 layers currently. I checked the layer properties to make sure it's visible and tried scribbling, nothing happened. I enabled the normal mode just in case I am in the erase mode. But doesn't seem to work.

I am sure I did something silly. Please help me out.

Hm...

*) Is the canvas an rgb canvas?
**)Same thing for layer. (You can check this whether the selector is greyscaled :) )
*) Check the brush parameters, maybe you've accidentally selected 'saturation' option, which changed the saturation of your brush based on a sensor.
*) There's a seperate blending mode for both layer and brush, check those too.

I've not touched anything at least to my knowledge o) . May be a hotkey was pressed accidentally. How can I check the stuff you've suggested?

Oh, you've never seen the brush settings?

Oh my.

Canvas colour depth is in the status bar below like this 'RGB (8bit per channel) sRGB built-in'. It may that your's says greyscale: Then you should change it via image->convert image colour space.
Similarly with layers, though you can rightclick and select the properties of a layer for that. To change them to rgb, lok under layers for a similar option as above.

For the blending modes. there's one in the layer docker, which is for layers, and the other is in the top-bar, after the word 'Mode:'. Both should be set to 'Normal'.

For the brushes themselves, click the brush-settings icon, it's between to the colour on the left and brush-presets on the right.
If you are using a pixel-brush(which brush is not behaving btw?) there should be an option called 'saturation', uncheck that.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. All seemed ok with me. I guess I clicked on the select region and then had to press Ctrl+Shift+A and now I am back :) Have been wondering for an hour or so :)
