Basically, I'm trying to find out how to use Mode: Darken functionality with brushes on a transparency gradient.

People are just too buzy due to the next release coming very soon.

As for the blending mode, there's none as such in Krita, but there was a patch a few months back for it, but then it was never pushed so...
