can't find the saved files

Fri Jan 23, 2015 2:56 am
hi to all,

i ll explain my problem:

i use an imac, and today i was a bit in a hurry so i saved my file clicking on "save" icon. a screen appeared , i chose png format and then clicked save. the problem is that ,sadly, i think it didn t save it at all, even if i continued to click "save" 5 and more times while i was drawing.
i admit that i didn t chosen a specific folder or given a specific name , so maybe that s the problem.

i tried to save a new file in the same way, and i can find the file if i save it in a specific folder and i give a name to the file.
but it s quite strange that i lost everything even if i saved , after all.

On the current Windows build it seems to default to only showing .kra files, which means all other formats are hidden until you change it to something else. Don't know if it's the same on Mac, but if you're browsing within Krita, try selecting .png on the dropdown next to the file name and see if the files show up.

yeah, also on mac the default format is .kra , but i changed into png file. i saved it on "macintosh HD" , and i thought it could be like saving on a desktop or "computer resources" . i tried again to save 2 files without rename and changing into png format, in the same place. krita considered it saved , but i can't find the file there, or even in "recent document" on krita.
considering this, i think that i MUST choose a specific folder, or it won t be saved, even if krita considers it saved.

Meh... Something broke, and all icons have disappeared. I need to dig into this, but the hack, build, check cycle on OSX takes hours :-(

boudewin:

i don't know if i have to create a new post for this, but the argument is correlated to this post, always about saving files.

i tried to save multiple files in various ways (on mac), and i discovered that when i select the file extension, the program don't alway change it correctly.

for example, i wanted to change it to .psd , but it changed to .pbm . pratically i have to click multiple times on the wanted extension , or krita will occasionally change it to the extension above or below the wanted one. quite curious bug i think.

then, i can't open a pbm file created with krita (maybe because it was intended to be a psd, or because really krita has a bug which cause to can't open the pbm file).

thank you for your support :)

Best write out the file extension, that should always work. There's a bug in Qt where the filter combobox is mapped weirdly to the internal filter list. I thought I had got it fixed in the latest build, though.
